The large number of tourists come here for many reasons: the temperature, the gastronomy, the heritage, etc. However, the vast majority of them are looking for sun and sand. In fact, more than two million people are expected to visit the city this summer.

Malvarrosa Beach
Malvarrosa beach is the most famous one, located 6 km from the centre of the capital. Because of its popularity, the city administration has organised a wide range of free activities this summer.
They start on 1st July and end on 31st August. Are these dates good for you? Well then, get ready because they’ll also be available on weekends! Even the little ones can join in.
There’s a wide range of sports you can take part in and they’re perfectly adapted to all people and ages. Here are some of the ones you can’t miss:
- Yoga.
- Tai chi.
- Pilates.
- Latin fitness.
- Gap.
The activities are run by qualified and experienced instructors. What’s more, there are two professionals on hand: one to lead and teach the class and one to provide support and supervision. Not bad if you want to get an introduction to any of these sports.

Patacona Beach
Patacona beach is a natural extension of the Malvarrosa. Unlike the latter, which is much livelier, this one is characterised by its tranquillity, as most tourists head to the Malvarrosa.
In this area is a private school called Mediterranean Surf School, where you’ll find experts in surfing, stand up paddle and longboarding. When it was opened 8 years ago, it was the first one of its kind dedicated exclusively to this sport, which is why it’s a benchmark. It also offers water sports classes for people with reduced mobility.
El Cabañal-Arenas Beach
El Cabañal beach, also called Las Arenas beach, is located 6 km from the centre of Valencia, in the famous Cabañal neighbourhood. During the summer months, free activities for adults and children are offered.
If you’re interested, there are two slots available:
- 9am – 11am: Yoga, pilates, tai chi, Latin fitness and physical activities like stretching, for example.
- 7.30pm – 9.30pm: Gap, cross training, tai chi and Latin fitness.
Also, you should know that this beach has a net, so you can play beach volleyball with your family or friends.
Pinedo Beach
Pinedo beach is a little further away from the centre, but it’s well worth a visit for the specific sports you can practise there. By car, it takes about 20 minutes.
This enclave is famous for organising regattas and for being the ideal place for kitesurfing and kite foiling (riding a surfboard with an aluminium kite).
On the other hand, all kinds of sports are also practised on land; in fact, the Cutty Sark Formula Kite Spain Series has been held here for some years now. The promenade is great for enjoying the freedom of your skates.

Port Saplaya
This is one of the most magical beach areas in Valencia, which is why it’s known as “Little Venice”. It’s a residential area located in Alboraya and it has two beaches: Port Saplaya South and Port Saplaya North
In Port Saplaya you’ll find the Sailing School of the Yacht Club. This is the ideal place to get started in the sport of sailing, as there are courses for all levels with specialised instructors.
