The Gran Canaria SUM Festival is just around the corner, kicking off on October 4th. At LOCK & enjoy!, we invite you to experience one of the most significant music events in the Canary Islands and Spain. Are you ready?

What is the Gran Canaria SUM Festival?

It is a prominent music festival that brings together renowned artists. It offers a comprehensive lineup of live performances, culinary experiences, and various activities, as well as other points of interest which we discuss in this article.

Its Significance in Numbers

The festival has become one of the island’s most important celebrations, evident from its figures:

  • The total number of attendees can vary each year, but last year, over 20,000 people enjoyed the event.
  • The lineup is diverse and extensive, featuring more than 20 artists from both national and international scenes. The musical genres range from pop and rock to electronic music.
  • Economically, the festival generates an impact exceeding 5 million euros due to tourism spending on accommodations, restaurants, etc.
  • The experience is dynamic and varied as the festival area includes several stages.

Artists Performing

The artists set to perform on Friday, October 4th include:

  • Mikel Izal.
  • Beret.
  • Dorian.
  • Niña Polaca.
  • Veintiuno.
  • La Habitación Roja.
  • Sexy Zebras.

On Saturday, October 5th, these groups will rock the stages:

  • Soft Cell.
  • Viva Suecia.
  • Dani Fernández.
  • Arde Bogotá.
  • Siloé.
  • OBK.
  • Pole.
  • Marwán.

Artists will alternate across different stages (sponsored by Mahou and Ron Aldea) so that the music plays continuously without any waiting.

It’s worth mentioning that the lineup is a real commitment to contemporary pop, though with some vintage touches in terms of music styles, and also to indie music.

Location, Schedule, and Tickets

Details about the schedule for the Gran Canaria SUM Festival are still to be confirmed. However, in previous editions, doors have opened at 18:30 with the first performance starting at 19:00.

Please note that the festival is only open to those over 18. The venue is the same as in previous years: the Recinto Ferial de las Palmas de Gran Canaria (INFECAR). To get there, the organisers have arranged with the local bus company to bolster the routes that pass by the area.

We recommend attending the festival with minimal belongings, as large backpacks and bags are not permitted. It’s a great opportunity to use our lockers in Las Palmas and enjoy a memorable night comfortably and freely. You can now reserve a locker for the duration of the event. Plus, if your phone runs out of battery, we also have USB chargers inside the venue.

As for tickets, a two-day pass costs €100. However, a single-day ticket for Friday is €55, and for Saturday, it’s €65. Additionally, you can purchase a premium pass (for both days) for €180, which gives you access to exclusive food and drink bars, the front stage, and relaxation zones. This type of pass costs €105 for Friday and €130 for Saturday, with the same benefits as the first. Keep in mind that the ticket only allows entry to the venue once.

At LOCK & enjoy! we advise you to buy your tickets as soon as possible since prices tend to increase as the dates approach.

Food Trucks

There are numerous food trucks at the festival site where you can refuel whenever you like.

Some offer typical dishes from Las Palmas such as ‘papas arrugadas con mojo’, ‘gofio escaldado’, or ‘sancocho’, among other products. However, there’s a wide variety in terms of food (burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, etc.), as well as any type of drink.

In the food truck area, there are dining zones with tables and chairs covered by a foldable tarp in case of rain.

Additional Information

The Gran Canaria SUM Festival has a rest and relaxation area to the left of the entrance. It’s a covered area with seating where you can relax with your partner or friends.

Given the number of attendees, security is very high, both in terms of personnel and materials. Checks are conducted at the entrance and there are numerous guards at each point of interest.

We recommend keeping the plastic drink cup, as they are reusable and can last for both days. Also, there is a cost added to your first drink.

The venue also has several puntos violeta – physical spaces established at large events to report potential sexual or sexist assaults. The goal is to advise, accompany, and support the victim at all times.

Beyond the festival, we invite you to explore the city of Las Palmas. For any activity, book a locker at Las Palmas – Las Canteras. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the booking process.
