The Top 5 Hiking Trails in Benidorm
We have selected these routes because they are the most popular and offer marvellous views of the city and the sea. We’d like to highlight that now is the perfect time to embark on any of these routes, as the high summer temperatures have dropped considerably.
Sierra Helada: From the Cross to Albir
This is a moderate-level hike, as it stretches 8 kilometres. Over the years, it has become a landmark since it starts at the Cross, one of the best viewpoints of Benidorm. Take a break at this point to regain your strength and snap some photos with the incredible view.
Continue along the crest of Sierra Helada to reach the Albir Lighthouse. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, especially if you don’t have much experience. Along this part of the trail, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and its cliffs.
Among the native flora, you’ll find various species, such as Aleppo pine and rosemary, among others. We also suggest bringing enough water, as there is no shade along this section of the trail.
The Albir Lighthouse is one of the most important tourist spots in this small coastal town due to its history. Once you arrive, rest and take in the magnificent view.
Sierra Cortina
The Sierra Cortina trail begins in the town of Finestrat, very close to Benidorm, as it’s only 13 kilometres away. The start is located in the Sierra Cortina residential area, near the famous Terra Mítica theme park. From there, a series of marked paths and access points lead to the mountain range.
The distance of the route is 6 kilometres, with a difficulty level ranging from easy to moderate, so it’s also recommended to have some hiking experience. It’s a pleasant and relaxing walk, with several viewpoints offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline as well as the mountainous interior.
If the sky is clear, you can spot some key tourist landmarks in the area, such as Benidorm’s beaches or the famous Peñón de Ifach. Along the route, there are areas to rest and enjoy a snack to recharge your energy.
Puig Campana
This mountain ranks second among the highest peaks in the Valencian Community, standing at 1,410 metres. Therefore, it’s only suitable for experienced and well-prepared hikers. The starting point is also in Finestrat, specifically at the well-known Font del Molí, a natural spring located on the outskirts of the town. There is ample parking here, along with clear signposting, so you won’t get lost.
The climbs are challenging due to their high difficulty, and there are also steep inclines and rocky terrain. Keep in mind that the hike lasts between 5 and 7 hours, depending on your pace.
During the hike, you’ll pass through pine forests and Mediterranean scrub, typical of the Valencian coastal region. As you ascend, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the city, as well as the Island of Benidorm.

Moralet Natural Park
It’s important to note that this natural park should not be confused with a rural area near Alicante, as they share the same name.
Located on the outskirts of Benidorm, this trail covers a distance of 5 kilometres. It’s an easy and flat path, making it a popular choice for families with children or beginners. Cyclists also frequently use this route, which makes it a dynamic trail.
It’s one of the best-signposted trails, passing through pine forests, shrubs, and areas of esparto grass. Along the way, hikers can enjoy several rest areas, as well as a series of viewpoints offering panoramic views of Benidorm and its surroundings. There are also picnic areas, so you can enjoy a day in nature with family or friends.
From Cala de Finestrat to Torre del Aguiló
This is the shortest route (3 kilometres), but also one of the most charming due to the combination of nature and history. It’s ideal for families and those wanting to try their first trail.
Head to Cala de Finestrat, just 9 kilometres from Benidorm. This small path runs along the coast, providing breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, as well as small hidden coves with fewer visitors.
At the end of the trail is the Torre del Aguiló, an old watchtower dating back to the 16th century. It’s another great spot for photos and offers distant views of the town of Villajoyosa.
Most of these routes start in Finestrat, so we recommend using the tram that connects Benidorm with this town, including Cala.
