The selection we’ve prepared is based on an easy level of difficulty and is accessible to both children and adults.
La Albufera
Is one of the most special and magical places, and it is surrounded by numerous legends. There are plenty of routes to explore; here’s a quick overview of the most popular ones:
- The Botanical Route is through an area called Pla de la Sanxa. It’s perfect for children, as it’s only 800 metres long and takes about 25 minutes to complete, route is characterised by lush vegetation, including shrubs and pine trees. You only need trainers as the path is on wooden planks.
- Gola de Pujol is another easy and family-friendly route. Its main attraction is that it connects the Albufera lake with the sea. The route takes about 40 minutes, during which you can learn about the curious and historical facts surrounding this area.
- Albufera Leisure Itinerary is one of the most comprehensive routes, consists of a path that crosses the Saler dunes until you reach the bathing area. It’s a 2-kilometre route running parallel to the seafront. There is ample parking nearby, as well as numerous picnic tables along the route.
Turia Natural Park
The Turia Natural Park has a total of 6 routes, although most of them are outside the city of Valencia. However, there’s one we’d like to highlight, as it is located within the city.
Turia River Route is aimed at more experienced hikers, as it covers 27 kilometres and takes 7 hours to complete. It’s not a difficult path as it runs along the banks of the Turia River on both sides. The abundant vegetation along the way is spectacular, creating a natural oasis.
Rambleta Park
This is a circular route that borders several parks on the outskirts of Valencia, such as La Rambleta or Parc Urbà Jardí de la Vida, very easy route, taking about an hour and a half to complete. It’s also perfect for cycling or simply for walking. It’s accessible all year round.
Is located in the San Marcelino neighbourhood, starting from Piux IX Street. Along the way, you’ll see wetlands and numerous trees, including North African date palms and Greek olive trees.
Have you decided on one yet? At LOCK & enjoy! we recommend that once you finish your route, you enjoy the best terraces in Valencia to recharge your energy.
From Cabecera Park to Mislata
To start this route, head to Cabecera Park, one of the largest in Valencia, with nearly 170,000 square metres.
This route involves walking westward to reach the town of Mislata, very close to the capital. It’s a combination of green areas with expansive views of Mislata’s more urban environment. In this town, you’ll find several local parks and recreational areas to rest once you finish the route.
It’s very easy to walk, with a length of between 5 and 7 kilometres (about 2 hours); ideal for beginners or those who prefer a quick walk.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and footwear, as well as bringing water and sun protection, especially in summer.
From Valencia to Albuixech
This is a very pleasant hiking route due to the numerous points of interest along the way. To start, head to the Benimaclet or Alboraya neighbourhoods, as they offer easy access to the paths and rural areas leading to the town of Albuixech.
As you move away from the city, you’ll gradually enter the Huerta de Valencia, one of the most renowned regions nationally and internationally for its traditional agriculture. The orange groves, vegetable fields, and traditional irrigation channels are the most attractive points of this route. It’s also fascinating to see the rural Valencian architecture, such as traditional masías and alquerías.
The distance is quite long, between 10 and 12 kilometres, one way. At a moderate pace, you can reach Albuixech, a charming town, in about 3 hours.
We recommend bringing your mobile phone with you, as the narrow rural paths can be confusing if you’re not familiar with the area.
At any of the starting points, we suggest using the Valencia Metro, as it reaches most of the city’s neighbourhoods.
