The Prado Museum
The Prado Museum opened its doors in 1819 and since then it has been one of the most famous museums in the country. Its renown is well deserved, as it houses a collection of works of art of unparalleled value related to the history of Spain.
The time span of his works ranges from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century and includes a variety of styles and genres. During the tour you can enjoy paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, photographs and other art.
The schedule of free visits is from Monday to Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00 hours. On Sundays and holidays you can also enter free of charge from 17:00 to 19:00. Normally, you have to queue to enter without paying, so we recommend that you go well in advance.

The Museum of Romanticism

Free admission is only on Saturdays from 14:00 hours. However, the ticket price is not very high (about 3 €) if you want to go at other times.

CaixaForum
This building is a social and cultural center located in the Barrio de las Letras. Its art exhibitions are temporary, so it will always have something new to offer you. It also offers activities, workshops and family visits. It is a good option for the little ones to learn and have fun at the same time.
The vertical garden at the entrance was designed by botanist and painter Patrick Blanc. It was the first to be installed in Madrid and consists of more than 15,000 plants covering 460 square meters of surface.
Admission is free for children under 16 and CaixaBank customers, but must be booked online. However, on the local holidays of San Isidro (15/05) and Nuestra Señora de la Almudena (09/11), as well as on International Museum Day (18/05), admission is free.
Metro Museums
This peculiar group of museums guides us through the history of the Madrid Metro. It is composed of:
- The Nave de Motores de Pacifico museum displays diesel engines and original subway machinery.
