The best plans for the Fallas in Valencia to enjoy to the maximum

We have prepared a small selection with the best plans in the Fallas of Valencia. For this, we have based our selection on the popularity of the activities and, in addition, on originality, since there are some events that are not so well known by tourists, but are worthwhile.

See a plantà

The plantà is one of the most exciting moments in the Fallas of Valencia. It is celebrated on the night of March 15 and this event brings together the fallas artists and commissions to finish setting up the fallas in their respective streets. Although most of them are placed days before, that night they have to be completely ready.

If you go to any neighborhood, you can watch live how the huge cardboard and wooden figures are assembled, as well as the retouching of the impressive artistic details.

It is a very important act because after the plantà the jury will select the prizes that correspond to each falla.

Mascletàs

The mascletás are one of the most vibrant and important spectacles during the Fallas of Valencia and, in addition, a tourist symbol. They are held from March 1 to 19 (both inclusive) at 14:00 hours in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. On the other hand, it lasts between 5 and 10 minutes.

The noise is the main protagonist, since you can only see the white smoke released by the firecrackers and rockets when they explode; it is very shocking, especially if it is the first time you see a fireworks display of this caliber. However, the magic is precisely in that detail because the more noise, the more festive atmosphere among the attendees and, therefore, the more applause the pyrotechnician will get.

We recommend that you do not go with animals and that you stay away from the front rows if you go with children because it can be very annoying for them. On the other hand, come well in advance, as the main streets and surrounding areas get crowded very quickly.

It is also the perfect time to leave your belongings in our luggage lockers at the Lockers at the Valencia City Hall.. You can book a whole day or by the hour. We recommend that you make your reservation as soon as possible because in 2024 more than one million tourists visited the city during this holiday.

Winning faults

The winning fallas will be announced on March 16, so you can make a list of which ones have received the most awards and visit them.

The fallas are divided into categories according to the budget they have for that year. The most striking and important and, therefore, those that will receive the first prizes are those of the special category. The vast majority are in and around the center of Valencia (Plaza del Pilar, Cuba Literato Azorín, Na Jordana, Campanar, Convento de Jerusalén, etc.).

The fallas in Valencia have a component of social criticism on current issues. We recommend that you stop carefully in each falla to know the theme and understand every little artistic detail.

In LOCK & enjoy! we advise you to organize a small route, because in Valencia there are a total of 768 fallas, including children’s monuments.

Nightly Verbenas

The vast majority of fallas also install in the streets of their neighborhoods and districts verbenas or barracas where people dine outdoors and dance until the wee hours of the morning. Also, the food and drinks are much cheaper compared to the bars and restaurants in the city center.

We recommend you try the one in the Ruzafa neighborhood, the one in Cánovas or the one in the Aragón area, among others.

If you finally decide to enjoy the nightlife in fallas, leave your valuables in our lockers in Ruzafa. Lockers in Ruzafa. We have a 24-hour video surveillance system and, in addition, our premises can only be entered with a code that is provided once the Luggage storage is booked.

Chocolate with churros and fritters

During the Fallas of Valencia, numerous stands are set up throughout the city where churros with chocolate and fritters become the protagonists for those with a sweet tooth. In addition, the fritters have evolved and you can buy them filled with chocolate, dulce de leche or strawberry, for example.

To try the best chocolate with churros we recommend you Santa Catalina and for the buñuelos we recommend the horchatería Fabián.

Offering of flowers

On March 17 and 18 between 3:30 p.m. and midnight, the famous offering of flowers to the Virgen de los Desamparados, the patron saint of the city, takes place.

During these days, the falleras and falleros walk through the main streets of the city until they reach the Plaza de la Virgen to deposit a bouquet of flowers. This is used to make the beautiful tapestries of the Virgin’s mantle.

However, if you do not like the hustle and bustle of people, go to the square on the 19th to see how the mantle has been left once the offering is finished.
