What is the Gran Canaria Sum Festival?
It is an outstanding music festival that brings together renowned artists. It offers a very complete program in terms of live performances, gastronomic experiences and various activities, as well as other points of interest that we explain in this article.
Its importance in figures
The fact that it has become one of the most important celebrations on the island lies in its facts and figures:
- The total number of attendees may vary from year to year, however, last year more than 20,000 people enjoyed the event.
- The line-up of artists is very varied and complete, with more than 20 national and international artists participating. The musical genres range from pop and rock to electronic music.
- As for the economic impact, it exceeds 5 million euros due to tourism (spending on accommodation, restaurants, etc.).
- The experience is dynamic and diverse because the festival area has several stages.
The artists
The artists who will be performing on Friday, October 4 are the following:
- Mikel Izal.
- Beret.
- Dorian.
- Polish girl.
- Twenty-one.
- The Red Room.
- Sexy Zebras.
On the other hand, on Saturday, October 5, these groups will rock the stages:
- Soft Cell.
- Long live Sweden.
- Dani Fernandez.
- Bogotá burns.
- Siloé.
- OBK.
- Pole.
- Marwan.
The bands will alternate on the different stages (sponsored by Mahou and Ron Aldea) so that the music will play uninterruptedly without you having to wait.
We would like to point out that the line-up is a real commitment to current pop, although with some vintage touches in terms of music styles, as well as indie.
Venue, schedule and tickets
There are still details to be confirmed about the schedule of the Gran Canaria SUM Festival. However, in previous editions the opening of doors has started at 18:30 hours, with the first performance at 19:00 hours.
Keep in mind that only people over 18 years old can enter. As for the place, it is the same as in previous years:
We recommend that you come to the festival with minimal belongings, as backpacks and large bags are not allowed. As for the ticketsthe 2-day ticket costs 100 €. However, the price only for the Friday ticket is 55 € and for Saturday 65 €. On the other hand, you can purchase the premium pass (for both days) for 180 €, which gives you access to exclusive food and beverage bars, the front stage and relaxation areas. This type of pass costs 105 € for Friday and 130 € for Saturday, with the same characteristics as the first one. Please note that the ticket is only valid for one-time access to the venue.

Food Trucks
In the festival area there are numerous food trucks for you to refuel whenever you feel like it.
In addition, there are some that serve typical dishes of Las Palmas such as, for example, papas arrugadas con mojo, gofio escaldado or sancocho, among other products. However, you have a wide variety in terms of food (hamburgers, hot dogs, pizzas, etc.), as well as any kind of drink.
In the food truck area you have eating areas with tables and chairs covered by a folding tarp in case of rain.
Other information of interest
The Gran Canaria SUM Festival has a rest and relaxation area just to the left of the entrance. It is a covered area with seats for you to rest with your partner or friends.
Considering the number of attendees, security is very high, both in human and material resources. There are searches at the entrance and numerous security guards at every point of interest.
We recommend that you do not lose or throw away the plastic cups, as they are reusable and can last for two days. It also has a cost that is added to the first drink.
There are also a number of violet points on the premises. These are physical spaces that are set up at large events and serve to denounce possible sexual or sexist aggressions. The aim is to advise, accompany and assist the victim at all times.
