Paris in summer

Paris is one of the most important tourist cities, both at European and international level. Proof of this is the large number of tourists who visit year after year, but especially in summer. The reason is the numerous activities for all audiences that can be performed. Take note of what to do in Paris in summer!

Paris Plages

This initiative was launched in 2002 by the City of Paris and was so successful that it is repeated year after year. Paris doesn’t have a beach, does it?

Every summer, the banks of the Seine River and the Bassin de la Villette become real spas. It starts on July 6 and lasts until September 8.

On the Seine you can enjoy sand, palm trees, umbrellas, sun loungers, etc.. A real paradise to cool off in the hottest hours of the day. In addition, board games, petanque and fitness classes are also organized.

In Bassin de la Villette, on the other hand, there are open-air swimming pools that use the water of the canal itself. Do not worry about the depth of the water, as there are different areas so that even the youngest can swim safely. There are also showers, changing cabins and toilets. There are also beach bars and ice cream stands so you can unwind with your family and friends.

Sales

Paris is the city of fashion and, therefore, the ideal place to go on sale in summer, since they last from June 26th to July 23rd. The signs indicating: soldes, are the right ones.

The most suitable neighborhoods for shopping are as follows:

  • Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It is the most commercial area, since the street of Rennes agglutinates the vast majority of internationally known brands such as Zara or Levis.
  • Shopping malls are also a good option if you are one of those who prefer to have all the stores in one place. Close to our LOCK & enjoy! in Paris you have the Halles shopping center in Châtelet, the largest in the capital.
  • The Marais is also another of the neighborhoods of reference to get real bargains and discounts. The vast majority are second-hand or vintage stores, although there are also some luxury goods stores.

Picnic at the foot of the Eiffel Tower

At the Champ-de-Mars (Champ de Mars) there are always hundreds of people relaxing or resting. It is also an ideal place to take beautiful pictures with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

In summer there are many more people who take the opportunity to have lunch or dinner on the lawn or on the surrounding seats. It is one of the favorite plans for the French. Also, we recommend you to have a picnic in the evening to watch the lights of the Eiffel Tower.

Seine River Cruise

Take a cruise on the Seine on the famous bateau mouche is available all year round, however, in the cold months we do not recommend it, as it is not the most pleasant. On the other hand, the good temperatures make it possible to spend a couple of pleasant and cozy hours, especially late in the day.

It is also an ideal place to take the best pictures in Paris. On the other hand, keep in mind that you can also opt for the boat with restaurant and spend an unforgettable evening with your partner.

Night walks

Paris is a city that invites you to do any kind of activity, especially in summer. We, LOCK & enjoy! love the night walks, especially along the banks of the Seine River. In addition, the city is beautiful at night, as a large number of lights decorate most of its monuments and official buildings, hence its name: The City of Light.

The warm summer temperatures will allow you to explore the city in a very different way compared to winter. The most recommended walk is the one between the New Bridge and the Sully Bridge.

July 14: National Holiday

If you are in Paris on July 14, you are in luck. That day is France’s big day, its national holiday. It commemorates the end of the absolute monarchy of 1789.

However, this year it will change location and will be held on Foch Avenue, very close to the Champs Elysees. France’s most famous parade starts at 10:00 am and lasts until 12:00 noon, so we recommend you to come early to be able to see it comfortably. A total of 4000 soldiers, 39 airplanes, 23 helicopters and 200 horses will be the protagonists of this day.

Aquaboulevard

If you still don’t know what to do in Paris this summer, we advise you to visit one of the reference water parks in France: Aquaboulevar.

The facilities of this place are magnificent and it is also considered the largest urban water park in Europe:

  • 2 swimming pools with waves.
  • 11 giant slides.
  • Jacuzzis, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Rivers against the current.
  • More than 4000 square meters of fine sand for you to relax.
  • Cabins.
  • Aquatic games.

As for opening hours, it is open all year round, but summer is the busiest time of the year.
