We are sure that the panoramic views of Malaga will surprise you. They are quiet places to watch the sunset and also to take unforgettable pictures, as well as to relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the historic center.

Viewpoint of Gibralfaro

It is one of the most emblematic and popular points of interest in the city. Being located on a hill, from this castle in the form of a fortress you can contemplate one of the best views, as well as of the Mediterranean Sea.

From this viewpoint you can see the historic center and the port. In addition, it is a quiet and relaxing space. We recommend you to go to Gibralfaro to see the sunset, as it is one of the most photographed moments by tourists who decide to come to Malaga.

There are 2 ways to go up:

  • To walk there you have to cross the Jardines de Puerta Oscura (Dark Gate Gardens). At the end there is a sloping path with slopes and a series of small stairs that take you to La Coracha (an area of ramps to climb up the hillside). If you take this route, wear comfortable shoes.
  • You can also go up by buying a ticket with the tourist bus that runs through the city because it also stops at the castle.

Alcazaba

This well-known fortress is one of the jewels of Malaga’s architecture. It also offers breathtaking views, as well as an immersion in the Arab history of the town. The Alcazaba is also located on top of a hill, near the Roman theater.

At the viewpoint you will have the opportunity to enjoy the majesty that characterizes this part of Malaga’s heritage, including its towers and walls. You can also see the cathedral, the port and the sea.

It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and numerous patios adorned with fountains and native vegetation. It is a good time to enjoy a serene, charming and cozy atmosphere. On the other hand, there are a series of informative posters that serve to learn a little more about the history of Malaga.

The viewpoint of the Alcazaba is free and there are also 2 ways to get there:

  • Cilla Street, a few meters from the Interpretation Center of the Roman Theater.
  • Mundo Nuevo Street.

Mount San Antón

The viewpoint of this mountain is also considered as one of the most romantic most romantic corners of Malaga..

It is located on the outskirts, on a hill 250 meters above sea level. For this reason, it is one of the best views of the city, as well as of its surroundings and nearby towns.

If you decide to visit it, also visit the hermitage of San Antón, a religious temple of the seventeenth century and also offers a unique panoramic view from the bell tower.

You can walk from a path that is in the famous Plaza de la Merced, right in the historic center. However, keep in mind that it is almost 3 hours of route. You can also go up by car because there is a road that takes you to the top and it is also the most comfortable and shortest solution (20 minutes drive).

Mount Victoria

This mountain is also known as the San Cristobal hill. The hike up to this viewpoint is a real hiking route because there are steep and demanding slopes.

It is part of Mount Victoria and is located just in front of the antennas that crown the Monte de Las Tres Letras. It is also part of the 31 forest viewpoints that the town has. The area is fully prepared for visitors, as there are benches, litter garbage cans, railings and rest areas.

The climb will give you images of the Limonar Hills, and even of the Sierra de Grazalema. The panoramic view also offers images of La Rosaleda, Monte Gibralfaro and the Sierra de Mijas.

To ascend to this place, go to the end of the housing developments on Ferrándiz street and in just 30 minutes approximately you will enjoy a 270-degree panoramic view.

For us, LOCK & enjoy! is one of the best places to spend a day with the family.

El Atabal

If you are one of those who prefer a different viewpoint that impresses by its originality, the Atabal Tower is your ideal place. By car, there are only 15 minutes away from the center, but if you decide to walk, the duration is about 1 hour and a half. The ascent is from the Puerto de la Torre; it is only 500 meters from this point.

In the same viewpoint is the Torre del Atabal, a small watchtower that was part of the network of watchtowers with warning and surveillance functions that during the Middle and Modern Ages controlled the Mediterranean coast, as well as the surrounding territory.
