- It will be the first time in Olympic history that the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium. Instead, the Seine River will take center stage. The ceremony begins at the Austerlitz Bridge, continues around the îles de Saint-Louis and la Cité, with athletes traveling aboard boats along the heart of the capital. The grand finale will be at Trocadero. One of the significant advantages of this new approach is that it will be free of charge, as the banks of the Seine are public.
- Most Olympic events will take place in iconic locations throughout Paris. 80% of the competitions will occur within just 7 kilometers of the city center and less than 2 kilometers from the Stade de France. Locations like the Grand Palais, Esplanade des Invalides, and Champ de Mars will transform into true sports venues.
- The women’s marathon on August 11th pays homage to the French Revolution, specifically the Women’s March on Versailles. The race will pass through famous city landmarks such as the Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde.

Venues
