On Saturday, 21st June 2025, one of France’s most significant musical events takes place: Music festival in Paris. For over 40 years, the city has transformed into an iconic, uninhibited, and festive stage. Best of all, it’s entirely free.
What is the Music festival in Paris?
It’s important to note that this isn’t a typical festival—there are no enclosures, tickets, or VIP areas. The magic of this event lies in the fact that the entire city of Paris becomes a free and open stage for amateur musicians, renowned artists, rock bands, and chamber orchestras, among other genres. Music permeates every corner, square, and street. The idea for this event originated in 1982, initiated by the French Ministry of Culture with a clear objective: to bring music to all audiences and provide artists with an unlimited space for artistic and musical freedom. Although it began as a local initiative, today, over 120 countries celebrate this day. However, it’s in Paris where it holds a particularly special significance.
Music on Every Corner
During this event, music in the streets of Paris becomes a palpable phenomenon on every corner. From the most touristy neighbourhoods to the most bohemian, no one escapes the magical and vibrant atmosphere that permeates virtually every nook and cranny. To enjoy the Music festival in Paris, you have two options. The first is to wander the city and let yourself be carried away, and the other is to choose any of the plans we propose at LOCK & enjoy!, which are the most popular that day. Regardless of your decision, the most comfortable option is to leave your belongings at any of our lockers in Paris so you can feel comfortable and free during any of the activities and concerts. Dance and enjoy with your loved ones without the backpack!
Concert at Saint-Roch Church
On Saturday, 21st June, from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM, the musical group Gardiens de la Paix will perform an exceptional concert at Saint-Roch Church. This musical ensemble, created by the Prefecture of Police, comprises 121 musicians. We’re confident this concert will leave a lasting impression, as it takes place inside the church.
Paris Métro
Throughout the year, the Paris Métro serves as a stage where music is always present on various lines traversing the city. However, during the Fête de la Musique in Paris, the underground takes on greater prominence. The event is organised by the RATP and the Prix Joséphine, featuring three choirs of approximately 80 people performing at the Auber and Charles-de-Gaulle–Étoile metro stations. The idea is for you to join them in singing as if you were one of the members!
EF Festival
One of the most popular concerts of the day takes place at the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville in Paris. This is the 9th edition of the EF Festival by VL. In 2023, it attracted more than 15,000 people to the square. Additionally, it is one of the longest-lasting events, running from 18:00 to 02:00. If you enjoy electronic music, we encourage you to register for free through their website. Keep in mind this is an open-air concert, so for greater security, you can leave your valuables in one of our lockers at Notre-Dame, just a 10-minute walk from the square.
Summer Vibes Solidaire
The Summer Vibes Solidaire is one of the day’s most notable events in Paris and also carries a charitable aspect. It’s organised by the association Les Petits Frères des Pauvres, located at Cité Voltaire, the event’s venue. Based on previous editions, it starts at 7:00 PM and extends until midnight. The official programme is yet to be announced, but French songs with various musical rhythms are always performed. At LOCK & enjoy!, we invite you to experience this activity to enjoy live music, meet new people, and contribute to a charitable cause.
Concerts at Palais Royal
The French Ministry of Culture also participates in this celebration in Paris by organising a series of concerts in the gardens of Palais Royal starting at 2:00 PM. These feature Parisian musical bands with rich histories, as well as amateur batucada groups. A total of 40 young people from various regions of France will ensure you have an unforgettable afternoon in one of the city’s most emblematic buildings. Take advantage and leave your backpack or belongings at our lockers in Châtelet–Les Halles, as they are very close to Palais Royal.
Aztechno Open Air
This activity is also very popular during the Fête de la Musique in Paris—it’s an invitation to dance all day! It takes place at 25 Rue de la Butte aux Cailles from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The main musical genre is techno; however, hard techno, acid, and psytrance are also featured. Enjoy the Music festival in Paris! Additionally, at LOCK & enjoy!, we also invite you to discover any of the tourist activities in Paris if you’re on holiday in the city.
