Experience Mallorcan Tradition at the Fairs and Markets

We are confident that the selection of fairs and markets we have prepared will surprise you with their high cultural, artistic, and historical level.

Tira’m els Trastos

Translated into English as “Throw me the junk”. This market is organized by various neighbourhood associations with the aim of promoting recycling and responsible consumption.

It is in Pau Casals square, specifically in the Santa Catalina neighbourhood. This is a flea market with over 50 stalls offering all kinds of second-hand products at very good prices. It is a great opportunity if you love vintage and retro items. Additionally, there are food trucks and music to liven up the shopping experience.

It is held on the last Saturday of each month from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Nocturnal Fair of the tomàtiga de ramellet

Just 35 minutes by car from the city of Palma, one of the island’s most important fairs is organized, specifically in the municipality of Maria de la Salut.

It takes place on the second Friday of August at night. It is a small fair with numerous stalls selling local handicrafts and native foods, all accompanied by great music and dining areas.

The most striking feature is the live demonstrations of how the ramellet tomatoes are prepared and strung, as this type of tomato has been cultivated on the island since the 16th century.

Sagrera Artisan Market

From May 1st to September 30th, this market takes place on Sagrera Promenade from 7:00 PM to 12:30 AM. This location is very close to the Sea Cathedral and La Lonja, symbols of Mallorcan architecture.

Here, artisans and artists of all kinds gather, where you can see genuine works of art such as paintings, photographs, bags, belts, wooden objects, etc. We recommend that you stroll leisurely as it is a good place to buy unique souvenirs or something original and unique.

Melon Fair

To visit this fair, head to the municipality of Vilafranca de Bonany, just 30 minutes by car from the capital. For us at LOCK & enjoy!, it is one of the most fun and dynamic.

It lasts an entire weekend, and its programme is packed with activities for all audiences:

  • At night, there is a market to acquire gastronomic products, including melons and local art objects.
  • Sign up for the melon eating competitions! Who can eat it the fastest, who can eat the most, etc.
  • On Saturday, a correfoc (fire-run) is organized followed by numerous local music groups in the village square.
  • Finally, on Sunday, another competition is held to award a prize to the largest and best-quality melon.

Market of Wonders

This is another of the temporary markets that you can also visit in August, only at night (8:00 PM – 12:00 AM). It is located just 2 minutes from Arenal Beach.

It is aimed at more select customers or those who like luxury or slightly more special purchases. Necklaces, bracelets, precious stones are sold, as well as the famous Majorica pearls.

Over the years, new stalls have opened offering natural soaps and everyday items, but always from a perspective of originality and exclusivity.

The staff at this market are known for providing very specialized attention and excellent customer service.

Nocturnal Fair of Sant Llorenç

The municipality of Sant Llorenç is further away from the city, about 45 minutes by car, however, its ecological fair is well worth the visit. This year it is held on August 10th and is the 28th edition. It takes place at an old train station.

The fair starts at 8:00 PM, by which time all the stalls with their respective products are already set up. Also, an exhibition of historical material from the old railway is installed.

During the fair, there are bands, live music, and concerts. Additionally, there are food stalls with tapas offered by local restaurants, as well as the famous food trucks.

If you want more, you can attend the popular open-air dance held at midnight in the town hall square in honour of the town’s festivities.

Artisan Market of l’Hort del Rei

This market is one of the most emblematic in Palma de Mallorca, as it has been around for 10 years. The reason is that its products are 100% artisanal, meaning the same manufacturer sells them on-site without intermediaries.

They are authentic handmade pieces by many artisans. Find your favourite earrings, clothing, or a multitude of glass ornaments for your home.

It is located just 5 minutes from Palma Cathedral, very close to our locker facility at Plaza de España. You can do your shopping from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

To get to the fairs that are in the municipalities, we recommend visiting the official transport website of the Balearic Islands to plan your routes.
