The city of Málaga offers a rich array of cultural, historical, and artistic activities for those looking to enjoy a day out in one of the country’s most significant capitals.

Danza Málaga 2024

Starting on October 11th and running until January 2025, Danza Málaga introduces a program of experimental proposals, traditional flamenco, and a mix of performing arts and dances of all kinds.

This year is particularly special as the Sevillian flamenco dancer Manuela Carrasco embarks on a farewell tour. Her final performance is scheduled for October 19th at 20:00 hours. Additionally, the Flamenco Company of Andalusia will pay tribute to the writer Federico García Lorca through dance and flamenco on October 23rd at 20:00 hours.

The official schedule and ticket purchases are available at the Cervantes Theatre and Echegaray Theatre.

S!ngulares

On September 28th, a series of concerts organised by the Malaga City Council will begin, covering various musical genres and styles with well-known artists both nationally and internationally. All musical performances will take place at the Cervantes Theatre:

  • Francisco Céspedes (October 1st, 20:00 hours).
  • Rita Payés (October 3rd, 20:00 hours).
  • La Cabra Mecánica (October 4th, 20:00 hours).
  • Navajita Plateá (October 5th, 20:00 hours).
  • Mikel Erentxun (October 12th, 20:00 hours).
  • Depedro (October 13th, 19:00 hours).

Ticket prices generally range from €25 to €40.

80’s and 90’s Musical

This musical comedy is characterized by originality and fun, offering a unique experience where the audience can share in the lives of the most famous characters from the 80s and 90s in Spain.

It’s a real blast from the past, as the stage will feature the best Spanish pop from those decades, mixed with international hits and the best summer songs. If you have a soft spot for vintage music, don’t hesitate to buy a ticket and relive an era that undoubtedly marked your youth.

The fame of this musical has led to performances not only in Málaga but across the country on various dates. The event lasts approximately an hour and a half and is suitable for all audiences.

It takes place at the ESAD Theatre (Higher School of Dramatic Art) in Málaga on Friday, October 4th at 21:00 hours.

Exhibition ‘Utopia and Avant-garde. Russian Art in the Costakis Collection’

From July 1st, 2024, you can explore this collection at the Russian Museum in Málaga. It showcases 20th-century artistic movements with works by renowned artists such as Malevich, Popova, and Filonov.

The artwork spans symbolic art and post-impressionism, as well as suprematism and constructivism, crucial for the evolution of modern art.

General admission is €8, with discounts available for group visits. The museum’s opening hours are from 09:30 to 20:00.

Brunch Electronik

If you enjoy electronic music, don’t miss Brunch Electronik on October 5th and 12th at the Auditorio Cortijo de Torres.

This outdoor nomadic festival takes place in various cities around the world. The atmosphere is enchanting and respectful, allowing everyone to feel free in their own way.

It features one or two stages with lively dance areas, rest areas with shade, and plenty of tables for resting, grabbing a drink, or chatting with friends.

A wide selection of food trucks nearby offers both vegan and carnivorous options.

Enjoy the great variety of international artists at this renowned festival!

Mercado Plaza de la Merced

This market takes place on the first Sunday of every month, so on October 6th, you can explore it in detail. It’s located in the historic city centre, specifically at Plaza de la Merced, near Picasso’s birthplace. The market runs from 11:00 to 19:00.

It’s known for its comprehensive range of products, including designer accessories, ceramics, and handicrafts. Items are locally made, handmade, and thus highly original.
