Events in Malaga in October
The city of Malaga has a wide range of cultural, historical and artistic offerings for all those who want to enjoy a different day in one of the most important capitals of the country.
Dance Malaga 2024
On October 11 begins the new edition of Danza Malaga, extending until January 2025. It consists of a program of experimental proposals, traditional flamenco and a combination of performing arts and dances of all kinds.
This year is more special than ever, since the Sevillian dancer Manuela Carrasco is making a farewell tour. The day chosen for her last performance is October 19 at 8:00 pm. On the other hand, the Compañía de Flamenco de Andalucía will also pay tribute to the writer Federico García Lorca through dance, dance and flamenco (October 23, 8:00 p.m.).
The official program of the different shows, as well as the purchase of tickets can be made at the Cervantes Theater and at the Echegaray Theater.

On September 28, a series of concerts organized by the City Council of Malaga will begin and will cover different genres and musical styles with very well known artists, both nationally and internationally. All musical performances are held at the Cervantes Theater:

- Rita Payés (October 3, 8:00 p.m.).
- La Cabra Mecánica (October 4, 8:00 p.m.).
- Navajita Plateá (October 5, 8:00 p.m.).

- Depedro (October 13, 7:00 p.m.).
Most of the tickets cost from 25 € to 40 €.
Musical of the 80’s and 90’s
It is a musical comedy characterized by originality and fun. It is a unique show in which the audience can share the experience of the most famous characters of the 80’s and 90’s in Spain.
It is a real throwback to the past, as the best Spanishpop of those decades will be played on stage. Likewise, it is also mixed with the international hits of those years and the best songs of the summer. If you are one of those who prefer vintage music, do not hesitate to buy a ticket to relive an era that undoubtedly marked your youth.
The fame of this musical has made it to be celebrated not only in Malaga, but practically all over the country on different dates. This event lasts about an hour and a half and is recommended for all audiences.
It will be held at the ESAD Theater (Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático) in Malaga on Friday, October 4 at 9:00 pm.
Exhibition ‘Utopia and avant-garde. Russian Art in the Costakis Collection’.
From July 1, 2024 you can enjoy this collection at the Russian Museum in Malaga. It is a tour that gives to know the artistic movements of the twentieth century with works by artists as renowned as Malevich, Popova or Filonov.
They are works of symbolic art and post-impressionism, although there are also works of suprematism and constructivism. This type of art was key to the evolution of modern art.
General admission costs 8 €, however, there are discounts for group visits. As for the opening hours, it is quite extensive, since it is open from 09:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Brunch Electronik
Do you like electronic music? If so, the Brunch Electronik will be held in Malaga on 2 dates: October 5 and 12, more specifically in the Auditorio Cortijo de Torres.
It is a nomadic, open-air festival that takes place in numerous locations in many cities around the world. The atmosphere that surrounds this festival is magical, as well as of maximum respect, since each person can feel free in the way he/she wants.
It consists of one or two stages with numerous lively dance areas. There are also rest areas with shaded areas and plenty of tables to rest, have a drink or just chat with your friends.
In the surrounding area there is a large selection of food trucks with a wide range of vegan and carnivorous options.

Plaza de la Merced Market
This market is held on the first Sunday of each month, so on October 6 you can learn more about it in detail. It is located in the historic center of the city, more specifically in the Plaza de la Merced, very close to the birthplace of Picasso. The opening hours are from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
It is characterized by being very complete in terms of its products. The reason is that author’s accessories, ceramics and handicrafts, among others, are exhibited and sold. On the other hand, they are local, handmade and, therefore, very original.
