Cathedral

The Cathedral of Mallorca, also known as La Seu, is one of the most spectacular in Spain. Its construction began in the 13th century and finished in 1630.

It features a Mediterranean Gothic design, however, subsequent renovations over the centuries have incorporated modern cultural shapes and aspects.

In 1931, it was listed as a Historic-Artistic Monument. This was due to a comparison of cathedrals worldwide, concluding that Palma’s cathedral has the largest Gothic rose window in the world. Inside, we would like to highlight a polychrome ceramic wall of approximately 300 square meters with relief figures, creating a three-dimensional effect with a very high degree of realism.

Gomila Project

In Palma de Mallorca, there is a neighbourhood called El Terreno. It’s not a tourist area, but if you like avant-garde design architecture, we advise you to visit to see one of the most cutting-edge projects carried out to revitalise the neighbourhood.

A series of new buildings have been constructed around Plaza Gomila, transforming the streets. This initiative has allowed for a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood with much more activity than before, now featuring numerous bars, restaurants, and shops.

All buildings in the project have been designed with top energy efficiency features. At LOCK & enjoy! we suggest you check them out, as they stand out for their high chromatic value, characterised by their freshness, vitality, and optimism.

La Llotja

Marketplaces buildings are common in coastal cities therefore, La Llotja is a symbol of architecture and design in Palma de Mallorca.

Although it is a simple building, it is a must-visit for those who decide to explore the city from a cultural and architectural point of view.

It continues the same Mediterranean Gothic style as La Seu. It was built between 1426 and 1452, thus, it is another emblem of Mallorcan architecture. Both the interior and exterior are impressive, which is why we recommend you visit it, as it is listed as a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC).

Paseo Mallorca, 15

This building has become one of the most unique in Palma due to its disruptive approach to architecture.

Located in the centre of Palma, among buildings of different styles and heights, it is characterised by innovation in both aesthetics and construction materials.

It features sliding wooden slat panels that act as a solar filter, thus creating a changing environment of lights and shadows. The aim is to take advantage of the abundant sunlight in Palma de Mallorca. Additionally, at the entrance of the building, there is a bamboo cane green wall, detail that forms an oasis of vegetation, freshness, and tranquillity.

Bellver Castle

This Gothic-style fortification is one of the most emblematic points of the city. Its location is not near the centre, so we recommend you visit the bus website to get there, as it is worth it.

It was built in the early 14th century on a hill 112 meters above sea level in an area surrounded by forest. It is a magnificent place to contemplate the entire city, as well as the port and the Serra de Tramuntana. Inside, it houses the Museum of the History of the City of Palma.

This architectural complex has everything you need for a pleasant stay, such as a bar, a souvenir shop, and an interpretation centre.

Can Corbella

Near the City Hall of Palma is one of the most original buildings in the city: Can Corbella.

It is a Neo-Mudejar style construction. These are single-family homes worth visiting, even if only from the outside. The ground floor is dedicated to commerce and is characterised by its horseshoe arches with coloured stained glass. The upper floors are crowned by an octagonal tower.

Although it is a building that may go unnoticed by visitors, at LOCK & enjoy!, we find it an ideal place to take some magnificent photos for the memory.

Casasayas Buildings

These are a set of Modernist-style buildings that stand out from the rest, also located in the centre of Palma de Mallorca. The construction of these is very recent, between 1908 and 1911.

They are notable for their geometric ornamental elements. Although they are of little decoration, they shine through their great originality. The lower part of the building is magnificent, characterised by columns attached to the facade itself, but with projections.
