What are the best hiking trails in Valencia?

The selection we have prepared has been made on the basis of a simple level of difficulty and, in addition, that they are accessible to both children and adults.

La Albufera

The Albufera of Valencia is one of the most special and magical places and, in addition, numerous legends surround this place. There are quite a few routes to do; let’s make a small review of the most popular ones:

The Botanical Route takes place in an area called Pla de la Sanxa. It is perfect to go with children, as it is only 800 meters and lasts approximately 25 minutes. It is characterized by a wide vegetation of bushes and pines. In addition, you only need sneakers because the route is on wooden slats.

The Gola de Pujol is another simple and family-friendly. The main attraction is that it connects the lake of the lagoon with the sea. The route lasts about 40 minutes, in which you can learn about all the curious and historical facts surrounding this area.

The Albufera Recreational Itinerary is one of the most complete routes. It consists of a route that crosses the dunes of the Saler until arriving directly to the bathing area. It is 2 kilometers in direct line and parallel to the promenade. There is ample parking nearby, as well as numerous picnic tables along the route.

Turia Natural Park

The Turia Natural Park has a total of 6 routes, however, most of them are outside the city of Valencia, but there is one that we would like to highlight, since it is located in the city itself.

It is called the Ruta Fluvial del Turia. It is aimed at those more experienced hikers, since the distance is 27 kilometers, with a duration of 7 hours. It is not a difficult path, since it runs along the banks of the Turia River, on both sides of the riverbed. It is spectacular the large amount of vegetation along the way, a natural oasis.

Rambleta Park

It is a circular route that borders several parks on the outskirts of the city of Valencia, such as the Rambleta or the Parc Urbà Jardí de la Vida. It is a very easy route because it takes about an hour and a half to cover. In addition, it is also perfect for cycling or just for walking. It is accessible all year round.

It is located in the neighborhood of San Marcelino, more specifically it starts from the street of Piux IX. During the route you will contemplate the wetlands and the numerous trees that there are, among which stand out the dates of North Africa, as well as olive trees of Greek origin.

Have you already decided on one? In LOCK & enjoy! we recommend that once you finish your route, you enjoy the the best terraces in Valencia to recharge your batteries.

Mislata Header Park

To start this route go to the Parque de Cabecera, one of the largest parks in Valencia, with almost 170,000 square meters.

This route consists of walking west to reach the town of Mislata, very close to the capital. It is a combination of green areas with wide views of the more urban environment of Mislata. In this town you have a series of local parks and recreational areas for you to rest once you finish the route.

It is very easy to walk because it has a length of between 5 and 7 kilometers (2 hours approximately). It is ideal for beginners or for those who prefer a quick walk.

We recommend comfortable clothing and footwear, as well as the use of water and sun protection, especially in summer.

From Valencia to Albuixech

It is a very pleasant hiking route because of the many points of interest along the way. To start you should head to the neighborhood of Benimaclet or Alboraya, since they offer easy access to the rural roads and departures that lead to the municipality of Albuixech.

As you move away from the city, you will gradually enter the Huerta de Valencia, one of the regions best known nationally and internationally for its traditional agriculture. The orange groves, vegetable gardens and traditional irrigation canals are the most attractive points of this route. In addition, it is also very interesting to contemplate the Valencian rural architecture, such as traditional farmhouses and farmhouses.

The distance is very high because it is between 10 and 12 kilometers, only one way. At a moderate pace, in 3 hours you reach Albuixech, a charming village.

We recommend that you take your cell phone with you, as the narrow country roads can be a problem if you don’t know the area well.

At any of the starting points, we recommend that you use the Valencia Metrobecause it reaches the vast majority of neighborhoods in the city.
