The origin of Alc\u00fadia dates back to Roman times, which already gives you an idea about the historical and cultural richness<\/strong> of the place. Church of Sant Jaume<\/h3>\n

It is an imposing temple dedicated to the patron saint of Alc\u00fadia that dates back to the 14th century. However, a collapse in 1807 left it badly damaged. Fortunately, it managed to be rebuilt, and the new works gave it the neo-Gothic style<\/strong> it has today. <\/p>\n

When contemplating the fa\u00e7ade, you will be struck by the large rose window and the image of Santiago that presides over the portico. In addition to admiring the exterior, you can visit the inside. Inside you will discover the sacred museum and the Chapel of Santo Cristo. <\/p>\n

Wall and gates<\/h3>\n

One of the characteristics of Alc\u00fadia is its medieval wall of 6 meters high<\/strong>, which extends around its perimeter. It was ordered to be built by King James II back in the fourteenth century, although you should know that it was expanded later<\/em>. It consists of 26 watchtowers, key to safeguarding the city from the feared pirates that sailed the Mediterranean. If you visit Alc\u00fadia, you can not leave without touring the wall and enjoy the views of the entire city. <\/p>\n
