Can Balaguer<\/h3>\n

The courtyard of Can Balaguer is located in the heart of Mallorca<\/strong>, about 10 minutes walking from the Cathedral of Palma. It is considered one of the most representative patios of the Majorcan stately architecture. <\/p>\n

It once belonged to a very important merchant family of Palma and later to the Balaguer family, hence its name. Today, it has been transformed into a famous cultural center<\/g> that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a noble house of the time. It is also used for exhibitions and cultural events aimed at learning more about local history and art. <\/p>\n

It stands out for its stone structure and its imperial staircase, a very characteristic detail of the Majorcan patios. It also has a well and numerous vegetation, allowing the space to have a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere. <\/p>\n

Can Vivot<\/h3>\n

For us, LOCK & enjoy!<\/strong> is the most spectacular of all, as it is a clear example of the baroque architecture<\/strong> of the time.<\/p>\n

The construction of Can Vivot dates from the seventeenth century<\/strong> and stands out for a design that reflects the opulence that characterized the Mallorcan aristocracy. Outside there is a gate that allows you to contemplate its beauty without entering, although if you want to visit it you have to make an appointment. <\/p>\n

It is a jewel of architecture due to its imposing stone staircase that allows you to climb to the top floor. As for the structure, it is composed of large arches and columns of classical style<\/g> that give a more stately touch to the courtyard. We would like to point out that it also has certain Italian architectural influences due to the island’s connection with this country. <\/p>\n

Casal Solleric<\/h3>\n

Casal Solleric is the largest municipal center of contemporary art<\/strong>, so it is a good opportunity to contemplate the courtyard and the different works of art on display.<\/p>\n

It was built in the 18th century by the Solleric family, one of the most influential in Palma. If we have to choose one word to define this patio it is elegance. It is characterized by a series of marble columns<\/strong> that support a ceiling adorned with classical details. Also noteworthy are the semicircular arches that give the courtyard a greater degree of majesty. Virtually the entire structure is decorated with ornamental elements and small details that are a good reflection of the luxury that characterizes the courtyard of Casal Solleric<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n

The courtyard is housed in an old palace dating from the 16th century. It owes its name to the matriarch of the family that inhabited this house, since she had a strong religious devotion. <\/p>\n

The structure has a great Renaissance and Gothic influence<\/strong>, very typical of the period. In addition, the patio is square, as well as surrounded by stone columns and with a staircase to access the upper floors. In Ca la Gran Cristiana there is also a well, an indispensable element in the architecture of Mallorcan patios. <\/p>\n

Can Alemany<\/h3>\n

This building (17th century) has a courtyard in which elements from different periods<\/strong> are mixed, such as the Gothic staircase or a 19th century gallery. On the other hand, the facade has 3 floors with a semicircular portal and another one on the right. It owes its name to Jaume Joan Alemany, a well-known doctor of the time. It was also the residence of the famous chronicler Joan Alemany y Moragues. <\/p>\n

It is important to note that it retains all its structure and design after the passage of time and without any relevant restoration. Currently, it is used to house different institutions such as, for example, the Institute of Balearic Studies. <\/p>\n

Can Bordils<\/h3>\n

The Municipal Archive of Palma de Mallorca<\/strong> is located in Can Bordils. It was not by chance that this place was chosen, as it is one of the oldest manor houses. It was built in the 13th century on foundations from the Muslim period. <\/p>\n

The predominant architectural style is Gothic<\/strong>, although it has undergone numerous reforms and transformations. It is characterized by a sober yet elegant design, very typical of the residences of the nobility in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, the courtyard provides a fresh and luminous space to the whole building, also highlighting the columns and stone arches. <\/p>\n
